In Mumbai, schools began with a tight commitment to COVID-19 protocols: Mayor

According to Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar, schools in Mumbai opened for grades 1 to 12 on Monday, following rigorous COVID rules. Schools in Mumbai, for example, have been shuttered since January 4 due to an increase in COVID-19 cases. Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar remarked at a press conference today, "In Mumbai, classes have begun. The old laws still apply when it comes to administering schools."
She went on to say that only children whose parents have given permission for them to attend physical lessons will be allowed to do so, while virtual sessions will continue for those who are unable to attend physical classes. "Only those children whose parents have given their approval will be allowed to attend school. The space between the benches will be 2 feet. The number of students in each class will be determined by the school administration "she stated.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Aditya Thackeray has stated that parents are allowed to make their own judgments regarding their children's education and should send them to school. On Sunday, Thackeray told reporters, "Despite the fact that schools will reopen on Monday, pupils are not required to go. In this sense, parents are free to make their own decisions and should only send their children to school if they believe it is safe."
