Following severe rains in Mumbai, Konkan, and other parts of Maharashtra following the IMD's alert, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde instructed state administration authorities to take precautions and ensure no loss of life or property. Shinde has directed the district administration to notify NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) personnel that they will be needed to perform rescue and relief operations in areas affected by heavy rainfall and flooding. As a result, 9 NDRF teams and 4 SDRF teams have been maintained on standby.
So far, 3,500 individuals have been rescued and relocated to safer locations across the state, according to Shinde. Furthermore, a considerable number of individuals from the Konkan region have been relocated to safer areas. Shinde talked with Chief Secretary Manu Srivastav and concerned secretaries in charge of the districts devastated by heavy rainfall, instructing them to keep a careful eye on the situation. On Tuesday morning, Mumbai and some of its surrounding regions experienced heavy rain and flooding. The IMD has issued a 'yellow alert' for the North Konkan, North Central and South Central Maharashtra and Marathwada areas, as well as an 'orange alert' for the south Konkan region and Goa.
In a statement, the Chief Minister's Office said, "CM Shinde is in contact with collectors from Thane, Raigad, Palghar, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts." The NDRF has also been instructed to keep vigilant. Mumbai's situation is also being attentively observed." "The Kundalika river in Raigad has reached a dangerous level. The water level in the Amba, Savitri, Patalganga, Ulhas, and Gadhi rivers was slightly lower than the danger mark, according to the report.
Furthermore, in light of the heavy rains, the Chief Minister has directed employees from the water resource department to remain vigilant and take the appropriate safeguards. "People, particularly in Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, and Kolhapur, where rainfall intensity is higher, should be warned about floods ahead of time," added the statement.
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said he has asked the Raigad district collector to take the appropriate actions in the aftermath of floods caused by severe and torrential rainfall. ‘’ The government and the entire apparatus have been instructed to be prepared to cope with any emergency. The NDRF and state administration are keeping an eye on the issue.
