In 2021-22, the Maharashtra government would spend Rs 14,655 crore on subsidies: Maharashtra Economic Survey

In 2021-22, the Maharashtra government paid subsidies worth Rs 14,655 crore, while total borrowings and liabilities were Rs. 66668 crore, compared to Rs 87,488 crore in the previous year. At the end of 2019-20, the state's outstanding guarantees were Rs 41,179 crore. The Urban Development department provided the greatest outstanding guarantee (46.2%), followed by the Public Works department. 
 
As per the Economic Survey, the government subsidy for energy preferential tariff to agriculture pump consumers was Rs 5,300 crore (general scheme), Rs 3,300 crore for incentive schemes underneath the package scheme of rewards to industrial units, Rs 2,000 crore for top quality subsidy under the Pradhan Mantri Crop Insurance Scheme, Rs 1,450 crore for Transport Commissioner-Establishment, and Rs 1,450 crore for subsidy for covering deficit under the National Food Security Scheme.
 
However, the Government of India and the States' contributions to the State Disaster Risk Management Fund are 75:25, as per the 15th FC recommendations. As a result, the State is scheduled to receive approximately' 17,803 crore in grants from the Government of India during the award period.
 
Continuing to be the most popular investment destination, Maharashtra attracted investment proposals worth Rs 1.88 lakh crore during the Covid-19 pandemic, with 3.34 lakh new jobs to be created under the 'Magnetic Maharashtra 2.0' from June 2020 to December 2021, according to the state Economic Survey 2021-22.
 
The Economic Survey was released on the day of Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar's State Budget 2022-2023, which is set to be presented to the Maharashtra Legislature on Friday. With the Caravan Policy in March 2021, the Adventure Tourism Policy in August 2021, signed MoUs for funicular railways/ropeways at Shri Ekvira Devi Temple in Karla in Lonavala and Rajgad Fort in Pune and entered into understandings with Bangladesh and Oman to boost medical and wellness tourism in ovember 2021, the state has given a boost to tourism. According to the State Economic Survey, between August 1991 and November 2021, the state-approved 21,216 industrial projects of Rs 15,09,811 crore, and 258 projects worth Rs 74,368 crore were registered in Maharashtra.
