Home registrations in the Mumbai BMC region jump 25 times to 6,784 units in August
In August, the registration of housing properties has increased to 6784 units in the city of Mumbai Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) region compared with the year-ago period driven by fresh sales as per to the Knight Frank India Mumbai Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) region. The consultant in a statement stated that this number was higher than the year compared to the pre-pandemic period of August 2019.
 
Out of the 6241 units that were registered for homes 92 percent were sold in August 2021. There has been a significant increase in the registration of new homes from 53 percent in July this year and 42 percent in June this year while in April of the month it was as low as 7 percent. Further informing, Knight Frank stated that the percentage of women buyers to the total registration is at 4 percent which is a total of 271 registrations from 6784. The consultant further stated that the collection of stamp duty of the state government has reached up to the 400 crore mark, near the 2019 monthly average Shishir Baijal.  
 
“With the start of the month April, the demand for homes has been regular with the huge rise of sales of homes costing up to Rs 1 crore, we can without any doubt state that the demand has put the woes of the second wave of Coronavirus pandemic far behind,” stated Chairman and Managing Director, Knight Frank India, Shishir Baijal.  Baijal expects that in the approaching festive seasons the sales momentum will be growing stronger. “We think that this is the perfect time for the state government to provide further relief for homeownership more importantly for the women category to boost them in the list of homebuyers,” he further added.
