Gulmohar was a disaster waiting to happen, says Kamathipura corporator

Congress corporator from Kamathipura and chairperson of A, B and E wards committee Shahana Rizwan Khan on Sunday claimed that the century old Gulmohar Building was a case of disaster waiting to happen as a fourth floor was illegally extended on an already weak structure.
Khan claimed that she along with her husband, also a congress leader had informed about the illegal floor to the BMC and MHADA officials three days ago when she inaugurated road work on the same stretch.
The Gulmohar building collapsed on Saturday in the Kamathipura area killing at least five people in the accident. Local MLA Amin Patel also claimed that the illegal fourth floor led to the collapse of the building.
