In a stunning remark on Sunday, Sanjay Raut (Uddhav Thackeray faction) of the Shiv Sena was seen on camera criticising Union Ministers for failing to speak out against the alleged insult of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The controversial politician remarked, "They speak on all other problems and do not comment on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's insult," when speaking to media in Mumbai this morning. In the video, Raut is heard complaining that he anticipated the Union Ministry to condemn the disrespect to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj or offer their resignation, but no one has, and he then verbally attacks them.
By drawing comparisons between Chhatrapati Shivaji and Dr. B.R Ambedkar, Maharashtra Governor Bhagatsingh Koshyari sparked a debate. "If someone asks young people, who is your icon?," Koshyari added. Which politician is your favourite? So you don't have to leave. They will be waiting for you in Maharashtra. Shivaji Maharaj is a relic of the bygone days. I'm referring to contemporary times, from Nitin Gadkari to Dr. B.R Ambedkar.
When speaking to the press previously, he had brought up the same problem and declared, "No one can accept that a person holding a constitutional post sitting in the Raj Bhavan attacks Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Phule, and Savitribai Phule. Maharashtra won't stand for this. because Maharashtra is the birthplace of these amazing people. They have a connection to the Maharashtra soil. How therefore can they be offended?
"Maharashtra has been disregarded." What does Maharashtra comprehend when the person who insulted Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was sitting next to Prime Minister Narendra Modi today?" said Thackeray angrily. Bhagat Singh Koshyari, the Governor of Maharashtra, had written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah at that time and stated that he could not even consider disrespecting the Maratha king in his dreams.
The Governor said in a two-page letter that his comment about Shivaji had been taken out of context. "Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is revered throughout the nation, not just in Maharashtra. Even in my dreams, I can never consider offending revered figures like Shri Guru Govind Singh, Maharana Pratap, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. You are aware that whenever I mistakenly do something wrong, I quickly apologise and show my regret, he said.
