Fully Vaccinated citizens contract Covid 19 infection in Mumbai

As the tensions for the third-wave rise, the city of Mumbai, where 6,504 citizens have taken both doses of Covid 19 vaccine and still contracted with Covid 19 infections with a few contracting Delta Plus variant. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), such infections are recorded in only 1.5 percent of the people who have been vaccinated fully with both doses in the city of Mumbai.

 

If these breakthrough infection increases with time it will get severe, that’s when there will be the requirement of boost immunity with homologous or heterologous booster doses, stated medical experts. Breakthrough infection refers to that infection when a person has administered both the doses of Covid 19 vaccination and within two weeks he develops Covid 19 infection. People who are administered vaccines are likely to have mild symptoms from those who have not been administered with any doses of the vaccination. 

 

The Additional Municipal Commissioner of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Suresh Kakani, who was administered with both the doses of Covid 19 vaccine, contracted Covid 19 infection in two weeks with mild symptoms. His treatment was done in Seven Hills Hospital, Moral. “Against the novel Covid 19 infection, no vaccine is 100 percent effective, there are people who are fully vaccinated and require hospitalisation. All the research that has been done worldwide suggests that vaccination makes the illness lesser for those who have been administered with both the doses of the Covid 19 vaccine,” stated Kakani. 

 

In a statement, the Covid 19 task force of the state said that the purpose of anti-Covid-19 vaccines is to save lives. “In the case of Covid, there will be no infection after vaccination only when 70-90% people across the globe are completely vaccinated. That is when the infection rate will also go down,” stated Dr. Pandit.
