Prithviraj Chavan, Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister, stated that instead of expressing his opinions on Facebook live, Uddhav Thackeray should have come to the state assembly and voiced his views on the current situation. He went on to say that Uddhav Thackeray had lost his fighting spirit.

Chavan stated this during conversations with television news outlets. He stated, "The Supreme Court decision was perplexing. There are numerous points that have still to be resolved. There is no clarity on whether or not anti-defection conditions have been met, as well as the function of speakers and the governor."

"Uddhav Thackeray should have voiced his opinion in the state assembly." He could have resigned after that. People should have understood his opinions, and Congress and NCP should have had an opportunity to talk and explain why they established the MVA administration," said Chavan. "I am personally dissatisfied with Uddhav Thackeray's decision." There is a distinction between speaking on Facebook live and in a state assembly session. Speeches in the assembly are recorded.

Chavan stated that Uddhav could not gauge how many MLAs were dissatisfied with the MVA government. He kept stressing how I was abandoned by my people, but it is a leadership issue. He went on to say that Eknath Shinde aspired to be Chief Minister of Maharashtra in the same way as Manohar Joshi did in 1994. When the MVA administration was formed, NCP head Sharad Pawar felt that both the NCP and the Congress had several senior leaders who would find it difficult to work under Shinde, therefore he asked Uddhav Thackeray to become CM.
