Abhijit Bangar, the Commissioner of Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), has directed authorities to make sure that the 15 current projects under the Thane smart city plan are finished by the scheduled date. He also said that it should be guaranteed that the CCTV project will be as useful to the police as possible while it is being implemented. The commissioner was evaluating the ongoing projects for the smart city concept, which are estimated to be worth Rs. 1050 crore.

Sandeep Malvi, Chief Executive officer of the initiative and a TMC Additional Commissioner, gave a presentation outlining the details and current status of all the projects. Out of the total 39 projects, he disclosed that 24 had already been finished and 15 were still in the works. Malvi also informed Bangar of  project delays brought on by encroachments, forest department objections, public interest lawsuits, etc.

After the monsoons, officials were given a three-month deadline by Bangar to finish drainage work. The Thane East Station Area Traffic Improvement Scheme project and the underground parking construction under Gaodevi Maidan have both made progress, according to the Civic Commissioner. He gave the go-ahead for a separate meeting to be held to discuss the need for a new station between Mulund and Thane. Additionally, he ordered the integration of the 1,700 cameras connected to the municipal centre in Hazuri and the 400 cameras attached to the Police Control Room. The police primarily use both of these systems.
