BMC collects Rs. 61 crores in fines from people for not wearing face masks in public places
A fine of over 61 crores has been collected from people for not wearing face masks in public amid the ongoing Covid 19 outbreak by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Sunday. The lawbreakers on the three railway lines — Western, Harbour, and Central have defrayed fines worth Rs 50,39,200.
 
Most of the lawbreakers were seen in the Zone 2 as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has collected the highest number of fines of Rs 9,19,23,900 followed by Zone 4 with a fine of Rs 8,88,26,400. On Monday the city reported 362 new COVID-19 cases taking the caseload to 7,34,119.
 
The number of recovered patients from Covid 19 on Sunday was 539 who was also discharged, taking the recovery count to 7,10,348. The city recorded 10 deaths on Sunday due to coronavirus, pushing the fatality count to 15,776 according to the data released by the city's civic body. A total of 3 containment zones are in the city and the buildings which have been sealed as per data are 61. The recovery rate of the Mumbai district has increased to 97 percent.
