Due to vaccine shortage, Covid-19 vaccination drive suspended in Mumbai

The vaccination drive for August 19 and 20 will be suspended stated the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday as the city faces a shortage of vaccination. According to the statement issued by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the drive will resume from August 21. 

 
In a press release by the government of Maharashtra, they stated that the state can now notice a decline in Covid cases consecutively and the state has been able to bring the Covid 19 pandemic under control and would have not been possible without the support and cooperation of the citizens and various initiatives related to health taken by the state. 
 
In the last 24 hours, the city of Mumbai recorded 283 fresh cases with five deaths, stated the bulleting released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). As the shortage of vaccination prevails in the city, only 24 out of more than 300 Civic and Government-run centres were administering vaccines. 
 
As per the records of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), a total of 7,947 oxygen beds are available in the city. The vaccination drive in Mumbai has been suspended for the third time in a month as the city faces a shortage of vaccines. Earlier the suspension on vaccination drive was announced by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on August 12 and 13.
