After the shortage of Covid 19 vaccination doses, the vaccination drive was paused at all the civic and government-run centres in the city of Mumbai on Wednesday, as per the statement by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday issued a statement where they said the administration drive of Covid 19 vaccination will function once again when they receive a fresh stock of vaccines.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated that “We regularly inform the citizens of Mumbai about the unavailability of vaccine doses, after having a look at the stock which is received and then a decision which is appropriate is taken.” This month would be the first time that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) suspended the vaccination drive due to the unavailability of vaccination doses. In the last month, the civic authority suspended the vaccination drive around three times due to the same reason.
In the metropolis city, so far 73,36,171 citizens have been administered the vaccination for Covid 19 out of which a total of 18,09,075 beneficiaries have been administered both doses of the Covid 19 vaccine. As of now, there are 428 active centres in Mumbai for Covid 19 out of which 294 are operated by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), 20 by government-run centres, and 114 by private centres
Taking the caseload of Covid 19 to 7,35,659 the city of Mumbai on Tuesday, recorded 288 new cases, with three deaths due to the infection, pushing the fatality count to 15,911, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Two containment zones have been noticed in the city with 48 buildings being sealed as a preventive measure to curb the spread of coronavirus.
