The Maharashtra Home Department has slapped the whip on four of the six dance bars accused of running a prostitution business in Navi Mumbai, robbing them of their licences. The illegal operation of these dance bars was taken seriously by Home Minister Dilip Walse-Patil, who made the declaration during his reply to a discussion in the state assembly on the revocation of licences for four dance bars. All six dance bars have been charged with the offences, he added. In addition, show cause notices have been served on ten bars, and the minister has stated that those found culpable in the probe would face consequences.

In response to the leaks of papers from various government ministries and state undertakings' recruitment exams, Walse-Patil confessed that the occurrences did occur, claiming that the government jumped into action and initiated an investigation. The minister promised the assembly that the government will not spare anyone and will pursue the perpetrators of the paper leaks aggressively. On the issue of women's protection, Walse-Patil argued vehemently for the passage of the SHAKTI Act, which attempts to reduce crime against women and children. He refuted comments made by some experts that the Act was draconian since it sought execution punishment for rape and molestation perpetrators. "Only grave crimes against women have been considered for capital punishment," he added.

In response to the opposition's claim that 474 people had been arrested in Amravati, Malegaon 90, Nanded 80, Yavatmal 7 and Bhiwandi 10, Walse-Patil replied that 474 people have been arrested in Amravati, Malegaon 90, Nanded 80, Yavatmal 7 and Bhiwandi 10. He made it clear that individuals guilty of riots will face consequences from the administration. Walse-Patil claimed that while NCP leader RR Patil was the home minister under the Congress-NCP government, he announced the recruitment of 60,000 police officers. The recruitment for 5,000 people is already underway, and the home department will soon submit a proposal for another 7,000 people. He also stated that the government will hire 50,000 police officers shortly.
