Guardian Minister Aslam Shaikh: Decision on allowing fully vaccinated citizens in Mumbai local will be taken in 2-3 days
Soon the State of Maharashtra may see unrestricted travel in the local trains for the citizens who have been vaccinated for the novel Coronavirus with both doses. The State Cabinet Minister Aslam Shaikh on Wednesday stated that the government will come up with the final decision in two or three days.  “According to me, the citizens who have completed both the doses of the Coronavirus vaccine should be permitted to travel in Mumbai local, this information also has been given to the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. After a thorough study by the task force, a decision will be taken on this within two to three days,” stated the Guardian Minister of Mumbai Aslam Shaikh. "

He further added that a comprehensive discussion took place in a recent cabinet meeting about the citizens who have been vaccinated fully and allow them to travel in suburban trains with the buses. As the number of cases in the state of Maharashtra saw a steady decline the government started easing the curbs in the state but noticing the repercussion after the second wave and the rise in a new variant known as delta variant the state government brought some curbs back. After the rise in delta variant last month, stricter norms were introduced by reducing the five-level relaxation plan to three.

The demand for resuming travel for the citizens who have been fully vaccinated for the novel Coronavirus has been gaining steam. Political leaders have also urged Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to permit the general public to travel on these trains. A QR-based universal travel pass has been prepared by the Maharashtra government to keep a check on the travellers who board the trains using a fake ID card. The local trains were started for the specific category of people in June by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
