Maharashtra saw an increase in daily Covid cases in the last 24 hours, with 3,659 new infections and one Covid-related fatality reported on Tuesday, bringing the state's case tally to 79,41,762, with 1,47,889 deaths to date. According to a senior health official, the number of cases is fast increasing, and there is no sign that the situation is different in terms of infectivity and severity from the third wave. "A similar tendency has lately been seen," he explained.

"Unlike prior waves, we aren't observing any chest or respiratory issues in Covid patients this time." This Omicron variety appears to be fairly mild. Most people can recover at home if they are quarantined. Patients with severe comorbidities are also stable," he added.
