Two corporators have demanded that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) must set up rehabilitation centres in the city to council addicts and moved notices of motion to this effect. The notices will be discussed this month in the general body meetings.

The corporators claimed that there is an increase in drug consumption in the city with college and school students getting increasingly addicted to drugs.

Samajwadi party corporator Ashraf Azmi has demanded rehabilitation centres for children along the lines of a centre of excellence at KEM Hospital. While Congress corporator Priyatama Sawant wants the civic body take the help of counsellors.
