Samajwadi party corporator Reshma Nevrekar had written a letter, a year ago, to Sitaram Kunte, former municipal commissioner and Kiran Dighavkar, M/E ward officer, requesting to take action against illegal structures in Shivaji Nagar.

However , she is yet to receive a reply from the civic officials. Nevrekar said, “As per government rule, the height of a slum house should not exceed 18 feet. However, residents in Shivaji Nagar have flouted this norm.”

Nevrekar claims that engineers and labourers do not demolish the structures as they take money from these slum dwellers instead.
