CM Uddhav Thackeray announced to rehabilitate flood-affected residents in western Maharashtra and Konkan
The chief minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray after taking stock of the damages caused by flood in western Maharashtra and Konkan, on Friday declared to re-establish residents in flood-prone villages to safer places and also stated that stricter steps would be taken against the illegal constructions from the floodplains on riverbanks.

The Chief Minister stated that an agreement will be built between the political parties in this plan of re-establishing the residents who have been affected by the flood as well as measures will be taken to avoid any such happening in the future. The Chief Minister Thackeray visited Kolhapur that is still not in a good condition. Last week the CM visited Chiplun in Ratnagiri. He stated that the district collectors have been asked to remove the existing illegal structures and ensure that no new structures come up on the blue and red lines of the riverbanks.

“Some strict decision will need to be taken on these structures and we don’t do it, these types of crisis will keep on occurring in the future. If it is not followed by us, then there will be no point in marking them. The district collectors have been asked to take action on the encroachments. The flood has shown us the reality and we look forward to turning the crisis into opportunity,” stated the Chief Minister.
