Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has strongly rejected Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent claims of vote rigging and electoral manipulation. Taking a sharp dig at Gandhi, Fadnavis remarked that it seemed “the chip inside his head has been stolen, and his hard disk is now corrupted.” The CM accused the Congress leader of continuously spreading falsehoods and said such statements were nothing but an attempt to undermine the democratic process.

Fadnavis criticized Rahul Gandhi for, what he called, a consistent pattern of misinformation. “Rahul Gandhi keeps making baseless allegations and distorting facts. This is not just irresponsible, it is dangerous for democracy,” said the CM, adding that the Congress party’s inability to stay politically relevant was pushing its leaders to resort to lies and theatrics. He also expressed confidence that the public would once again reject such politics in the upcoming elections.

The war of words was triggered by Rahul Gandhi’s allegations that votes were being stolen and elections manipulated in Maharashtra and other states. Reacting to this, Fadnavis said firmly, “There has been no vote theft, not in Maharashtra or anywhere else in the country. His statements are nothing but an attempt to cover up the opposition's defeat.”

According to Fadnavis, Rahul Gandhi had earlier claimed there was an increase of 75 lakh votes, and now he was alleging a spike of 1 crore votes without offering any concrete evidence. “We had already responded with verified data and statistics regarding Maharashtra’s voter count. Despite that, he did not provide any counterpoints or clarifications. He continues to lie knowingly, only to deflect attention from the clear losses his party has suffered—and will continue to suffer,” the CM said.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray came out in support of Rahul Gandhi’s stance and demanded accountability from the Election Commission. “The EC must come on stage and answer the questions Rahul Gandhi has raised,” Aaditya said, echoing concerns about transparency in the electoral process. He asserted that the allegations being raised shouldn’t be brushed aside, and urged the constitutional body to clarify matters in public.

Despite this backing from the Shiv Sena (UBT), Fadnavis remained unshaken in his criticism of the opposition. He described Gandhi’s claims as theatrics designed to mislead voters and erode trust in democratic institutions. The CM emphasized that India's electoral framework was robust and reliable, and reiterated his belief that the public would again show its wisdom by rejecting false narratives.

As political heat intensifies ahead of upcoming elections, the exchange between Rahul Gandhi and Devendra Fadnavis has set the tone for a fierce battle, not just of votes, but of ideologies and narratives. With leaders trading barbs and supporters rallying on both sides, the focus is back on voter trust, transparency, and accountability.
