Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday inaugurated the Electric Victoria Carriages at Varsha in his official residence. Transport Minister Anil Parab and Tourism Minister Aditya Thackeray were present when Chief Minister Thackeray handed over the keys to the old horse-drawn carriages.

The city’s iconic Victoria horse-drawn carriages are about to return to the city streets, but not the horses in frontline.  The state Department of transportation recently approved a proposal to allow electric Victorian wagons to run around the Gateway of India, where traditional Victorian horses have been running for more than a century.  "Battery-powered carriages run at speeds of less than 20 kilometres per hour.

They look like real Victoria carriages, but they are not horses. They are eco - friendly, taking you back to the city's old heritage, said spokesperson of Uboriderz.
