CM Eknath Shinde receives relief from the Bombay HC in the NIT plots matter

In the matter involving the Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) plots, the Bombay High Court's Nagpur Bench has granted relief to CM Eknath Shinde. On December 16, the government's Urban Development Department revoked the decision to sell the land to a private party and once more made it available to the slum inhabitants. It's a major issue. This morning the Maha Vikas Aghadi met and undertook a protracted discussion on the subject. The Nagpur Bench's order to grant a stay is serious.

 

The government intervened in the case while it was still a sub-judice affair, the high court has stated explicitly. We object to this. The decision was made by the minister of the Urban Development Department, who is now the Chief Minister. Therefore, it is impossible to rule out meddling if the government decides to make a plea.
