BMC News: Maharashtra CM Directed UD to Seek Report from BMC on Corruption Charges Against Civic Ward Officer
On Sunday the Urban Development has been asked to take a report from the BMC on charges of corruption and lack of symmetry against a civic ward officer in passing eligibility of tenants in a Slum Redevelopment Authority (SRA) scheme by the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. This conduct by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray came on a letter sent by the state Congress Chief.

The letter which was written by Congress Chief Patole to the Chief Minister comprised of complaint against Vibhas Achrekar, of BMC’s ward filed by Congress office-bearer Rakesh Shetty who claimed that Archrekar was asking for bribes so that eligibility of slum dwellers for the rehabilitation scheme in Bhandup is clear. Patole urged Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to inquire about irregularities indicated by Shetty.

“I have submitted the report a long time ago about this to the higher authorities,” Archrekar said in a statement. Earlier the Congress Chief Patole had written the letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and industries Minister Subhash Desai to continue the tender assigned by state-owned Maharashtra State Mining Corporation to a company for distribution of cola, claiming malpractice.

“The complaint made, is pushing me to make 15 non-eligible structures eligible in his SRA scheme. The scheme has not even improved a little bit since 2009, after 11 years of no development in the scheme, it was proposed to close the scheme. Shetty should ask this to first appellate authority but why Shetty is putting pressure on me” in a statement Achrekar said. “Archrekar has asked for 10 lakhs for the work to be completed, I urge the state to look into this matter and suspend the officials,” Shetty said in his complaint to Patole.
