The BMC on wednesday did not respond to the questions of Shiv Sena corporator Ramakant Rahate, on the precarious condition of the 125-year-old Chinchpokli bridge.

Confirming this, Mr Rahate told The Hindu , “I moved a calling attention motion seeking answers on the urgent repairs needed to be undertaken on the bridge, constructed during the British rule. Its condition has worsened over the last three-four years and it quakes due to vehicular overload.”

“One year ago, I had raised the issue of the dilapidated condition of the bridge and it was listed then by the civic administration for repairs, which never took place. I will raise the issue again in the next week’s standing committee meeting,” he added.

Yashodhar Phanse, chairman of the standing committee, said that the points made by Mr Rahate were noted down and will be followed up at the next standing committee meeting a week from now.
