While every individual is being warned about fire safety in the wake of an increase in fire occurrences in Mumbai, children in BMC schools will soon be taught about fire safety. The kids will be brought to fire stations where they will learn about the fire department's job. By visiting the BMC parks, they will also learn about the value of trees, how to plant them, and garden-related activities.

"The project is now at an early phase," said Jitendra Pardesi, head of the BMC's Garden Department. "We will shortly organise discussions and write up a detailed plan that will be executed from June-July 2022 when the schools re-open for the next academic session." According to a BMC official, in addition to the standard curriculum, pupils should be taught about fire safety. The children will be instructed about various fire prevention measures because the fire department is part of the civic body.

"The BMC has its parks where it has cultivated and planted many types of trees throughout the years," the official said of the tree plantation teachings to the pupils. Children will be encouraged to plant trees if they are educated about the issue, as they will be given information on which trees to plant and how to recognise tree seeds. The goal, according to the official, is to "teach children about garden activities from an environmental standpoint."
