Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray thanked to PM Modi to allows Maharashtra to produce Covaxin

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allowing the Maharashtra government-owned Halfcain Institute to manufacture Bharat Biotech's Covaxin on the basis of technology transfer. The Maharashtra government announced the recognition through its official Twitter handle. 

 

The Hafkain Institute of Science and Technology, Government of India, has been given permission by the Government of India to manufacture the covacine vaccine of Bharat Biotech through technology transfer, ”the Maharashtra Chief Minister's Office tweeted. Chief Minister Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray thanked the Prime Minister for approving the request. 

 

Earlier, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had asked the Center to allow the Halfcain Institute to produce covaxin.  Covaxin is currently manufactured by Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech.  As many as 26.02 lakh Covid-19 vaccine doses were administered till 8 pm on Thursday, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to over 11.74 crore.  In the last 24 hours, 61,695 new Covid-19 cases and 349 deaths were reported in Maharashtra. 

 

According to the State Health Department, the total number of positive cases in the state is 36,39,855, including 29,59,056 recoveries and 59,153 deaths.  There are currently 6,20,060 active cases in the states, the highest number in any state.
