BMC Elections 2022
On November 1, the BMC cancelled a road concretization bid costing Rs 5,800 crore. The civic body also cancelled the construction of an aquarium at the Byculla Zoo, improvements at the Deonar Abatoire, tunnel construction for the Goregaon Mulund Link Road, laundry to wash hospital linens, and the setup of virtual classrooms in civic-run schools. This is not the only tender to be cancelled.

Vinod Mishra, a former BJP councilman and member of the standing committee, commented on this by saying, "The administration should maintain the quality of work. It appears that the administration hasn't taken any lessons from the past. To build and maintain roads, I'd say there is still a connection between contractors and BMC officers. Although cancelling bids may slow down the pace of civic activity, it should be done if it will improve things and
fight corruption. To prevent delays, new tenders should be requested right away.

The BMC should conduct job tendering on a war footing, according to Dhaval Shah, chairman of the Lokhandwala & Oshiwara Citizens Association. They ought to speed up the process of creating and issuing tenders. A group leader in the BMC and Congress corporator Ravi Raja stated, "Cancellation of tenders impacts the pace of development. But occasionally it seems like these tenders are only being requested for certain contractors. I believe the BMC is being operated by contractors. The BMC's primary issue is that they don't effectively plan. Even half of the Rs. 2200 crore in road building work that was contracted for by the city authority in November 2021 has not yet been finished.
