The BMC has begun the admissions process in its schools, with a goal of enrolling one lakh new pupils by the end of the year. The local authority has launched a campaign called 'Mission Admission-Ekach Lakshya-Ek Laksha,' which it claims is receiving a huge response. Admissions began on April 18 and 11,549 new students enrolled in just five days.

Aaditya Thackeray, the Guardian Minister for Mumbai Suburbs, had presented proposals to improve education standards at civic-run schools. In the current fiscal year, a budgetary provision of Rs 3,370.24 crore was made. The minister's plan includes providing high-quality education as well as programs to aid kids' entire development. As a result, adjustments to the curriculum, as well as other educational facilities and school structures, have been made.

Marathi, Hindi, English, Urdu, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Gujarati are all taught at BMC schools. Over three lakh kids are enrolled in 1,150 schools, ranging from kindergarten to grade ten. The administration expressed confidence that the goal of enrolling one lakh students by July 31 will be met. The nursery, Class 1 and Class 2 admissions processes are now underway. Officials predicted that when more schools announce their findings, enrollment for subsequent divisions will rise.

Ajit Kumbhar, the joint municipal commissioner for education, said parents are enthusiastic about the project. All BMC schools are now known as Mumbai Public Schools as part of this programme. The BMC provides all kids with free education and has employed qualified teachers. In 2019, their school's Class 10 pass rate was 53.19 percent, rising to 93.25 percent in 2020 and 100 percent in 2021, according to reports.

The BMC, according to officials, is the only civic organisation in the country that provides education in eight distinct languages. It also provides music, art, a scout guide, and work experience training. Children in Mumbai Public Schools can also participate in programmes that help them express their hidden skills.
