Bombay High Court urges Maharashtra Government to protect the Marine Life
On the plan of cleaning the garbage and filth on the coastline of Maharashtra and the beaches of Mumbai, the Bombay High Court on Wednesday made the statement that Marine life must be safeguarded. On June 30 a bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Girish Kulkarni was on the lookout for a solution for this problem after listening to a PIL and citing the example of Cyclone Tauktae. The bench of judges is ready with all the data and news reports on the sea piling 87 percent more thrash in total seven beaches in Mumbai on the day of the cyclone.

“I went through all the news reports and seek a short time to place on record the State’s stand,” said Advocate –General Ashutosh Kumbhakoni. The judges repeated that they want the coastline and beaches clean. The AG agreed to the bench saying “what you have put in it will be vomited by the sea after some time.” It was observed by the judges that whenever a situation like a cyclone occurs then whatever is on the bed of the sea is thrown back. Which mostly comprised of plastics, bags, and cans.

While recalling a video of a diving instructor and shark conservator Cristina Zenarro taking out the fish hooks stuck in the jaws of sharks the Chief Justice said that “the number of things coming to the shore is minuscule, which we need to keep in mind. We need to take utmost care of this issue.”  The hearing of the matter will be done on the 9th of June.
