BMC will renovate a prominent playground in the Worli Koliwada area, which is in the assembly constituency of state tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray. The civic officials stated that they have decided to spend Rs1.5 crore to upgrade the Ghoda-dapkal playground near the Golfadevi mandir in the Worli Koliwada area with better public amenities.
Once completed, the ground will include a jogging track, open gym, and landscape, as well as a designated area for senior citizens and a play area for children. According to BMC officials, the playground is currently not properly maintained, but after a facelift, it will have facilities for multisport activities such as kabbadi, kho-kho, and mallakhamb.
According to them, the project will cost Rs 1.50 crore and will be funded by the District Planning Development Committee (DPDC). Other basic necessities, such as drinking water and toilet facilities, will be made available to citizens. The ground will be fenced in with greenery and various trees, with seating arrangements in the form of steps to attract citizens. Mosaic murals, signage, and directional boards will also be included.
"We have invited tender for the upgradation and beautification of Ghoda-dapkal Maidan," a civic official said, adding that the tender will take a few months to finalise before the actual work begins. The BMC owns 1,052 open plots totaling 1,200 acres in the city. However, several open spaces are encroached upon due to a lack of proper maintenance. The civic body has decided to develop them in order to combat this threat. Several open spaces, including traffic islands, roads, and the space beneath the flyovers, have been developed and beautified by the BMC over the last two years.
