The BMC has agreed to build a four-lane flyover spanning Goregaon Creek to connect Andheri (East) with Goregaon (West). For its construction, the civic organisation has released tenders of Rs 418,53,30,000. This bridge will be 33 metres wide and 500 metres long, according to a bridges department officer. It will be built of stainless steel. The bridge will be lit and run-on cable-based technology.

The BMC reports that there is a 36.6-meter-long road close to Goregaon Creek. The region around the creek was designated for bridge construction in the development plan of 1991. The city committee has now agreed to start the development while taking into account the area's severe traffic congestion. "There are 350 slums in addition to some privately owned properties in the stream region. The BMC's Andheri (East) and Goregaon (West) ward offices would examine if these slums are legitimate before deciding whether to relocate them, the officer added.

"We have requested bids for the project twice already. The initial time around, we had chosen to build the bridge out of regular steel. The officer stated, "Later, we decided to use stainless steel to minimise rusting as this bridge will be constructed over the stream. Using stainless steel will also lower the bridge's maintenance cost.

After selecting a consultant for the project, the BMC will request approval from the Environment Department and the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA). Along the road, there are some electricity cables as well, and the BMC will talk with the business about removing them.
