Mumbai : Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal on Thursday put out new order to BMC officials to set up  vaccination drive centers in all seven areas of the city within immediate effect. Chahal directed the Deputy Municipal Commissioners to set up at least one center in their respective areas within 24 days.

Hours, officials said.  People over the age of 60 can only be vaccinated at drive-in centers by appointment, they will not drive themselves, and will have an attendant or driver, the municipal commissioner said in an order.  Vaccination centers are being set up in some places and more "drive-in" vaccination centers are being set up across the city.

The commissioner said in-centers should be set up at large open grounds like Andheri Sports Club Ground, Co-operative, Shivaji Stadium, Oval Maidan and MIG Ground. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, 25,20,634 people received corona virus vaccine jobs.  Including 5,40,000 people who received both doses until Wednesday evening.

Those who want the vaccine dose must register themselves on the Co-Win portal and book a slot at the vaccination center of their choice before they get there, civic officials said. The new order comes in the wake of a series of confusing scenes outside the BKC injection center on Wednesday due to congestion.

People over the age of 45 will also be exempted from booking a second dose of Covax in advance, but they will need to produce a temporary certificate of taking the first dose - digital or hard copy. Healthcare workers and senior workers who wish to take one or two doses of Covaxin and Covishild do not need to register in advance.
