BMC to award top five corporators

Upset by the reports and poor survey results from many city think-tanks and NGOs, the Mumbai civic body BMC has decided to felicitate five of its top performing corporators.
 
The committee which will pick the top five corporators will be headed by the mayor and group leaders in the BMC, all of whom are corporators. The felicitation plan was first mooted in 2012 by former Shiv Sena corporator Manmohan Chonkar. It was approved by the BMC group leaders on Friday.
 
According to the officials, in order to apply for the award, one should have
 
Experience as corporator of at least two years
 
No ongoing police against him/her and will have to submit NOC from a local police station stating that they have no criminal record
 
Five corporators also have to back their nomination
speeches in various civic forums will be taken into consideration.
 
Use of development funds will also be examined
 

The corporators will have to submit a detailed report outlining their work and other achievements while applying for the awards. Mayor Snehal Ambekar confirmed that the proposal to pick the best corporators was approved.
