Ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections 2022, the civic body is all set to make the repair and construction work of fourteen vehicular and pedestrian bridges in the western suburbs. This step from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) came soon after a recent audit where it was released that there were some structural defects in these constructions and needed to be repaired or restored. 
 
The locations where these bridges are Malad, Goregaon and Andheri and the total amount to be spent by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is Rs 16.88 crore for the repair and construction work of these fourteen bridges. As per the information released through an audit, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated that these bridges were in very bad condition and needed to be repaired as soon as possible. 
 
“The total amount of small bridges that are to be repaired stands at 50 and the work will be starting in phases. Just in the same manner we will also complete the work of the Bandra skywalk in some days,” stated a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official from the department of Bridges. 
 
Out of the fourteen bridges that are to be repaired and reconstructed, eight bridges will completely be demolished and in the remaining six repair work will take place. Of these fourteen bridges, five are Malwani Bridge, Hindustan Nallah Bridge, Lokhandwala and Laxmi Nagar connecting bridge and bridge crossing Mithi River. 
 
“Further work will be laid down by the traffic police of the construction area. But it should be done in such a manner that the movement of pedestrian should not be affected in any manner and this will be kept in mind during the entire construction period. Therefore, before starting the work various equipment’s like barricades, warning signals will be provided before time,” stated the tendered document of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
