BMC Suspends Vaccination Drive in all Civic and Government Vaccination Centres

Due to the unavailability of vaccines the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) declared that the COVID-19 vaccination drive in all civic and government-run vaccination centres will be delayed today. "Dear Mumbaikars, please note that all BMC and Government vaccination centres will remain closed tomorrow that is on July 9, 2021. We are apologetic for the inconvenience. Please keep track of this space for the latest updates and schedules.” stated Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation officers in a tweet.

 

In a statement Dr. Rajesh Dere, Dean of BKC Jumbo COVID Centre, Mumbai stated that said that under everyday supply the sessions are being administered. We are facing the unavailability of vaccines and further, we expect to receive more and more vaccines. Circulars have been furnished for the Vaccination of pregnant women. We are just waiting for the further orders if asked to execute the plan, it will be done, added Dr. Rajesh Dere.

 

He further said that if the city of Mumbai can direct the second dose to 30-40 percent population only then the danger of the third COVID wave can be minimized. The people administered with the first dose stands at 47 percent. Before, on July 1, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation had temporarily stopped the vaccines at civic and government-run centres quoting a shortage of vaccine doses.
