The proposal for a cycle track along with the protective wall has finally been approved by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday. As per the information from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officer the civic body will be spending an amount of 1.22 crore on this project which is in the Mahalaxmi racecourse. The protective wall has been damaged along with the sidewalk in some places, from this is where the issue came to light. The cycle tracks are being constructed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) along with Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) all over the city of Mumbai.
The draft proposal that was tabled before the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) standing committee stated that this construction aims to end illegal parking with the sidewalk also, and this work as per the reports will be completed in just the time frame of four months and the contractors who have been given the responsibility would be looking after the maintenance work for two years. “We will be transforming the dilapidated road to an environment that is functional for the pedestrians and cyclists,” stated a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officer.
Further, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official also stated that they will be constructing a sidewalk and a cycle track at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse and the wall there will be demolished to give the best view of the racecourse and instead of the wall we’ll construct a fence. The area from Famous Studio is unused we will be transforming it too. This step by the civic officials will be of great help for the approaching Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections 2022, with no time left, taking a step like this will attract the majority of voters.
