The Mumbai Suburban Collector has been urged by the Shiv Sena-led Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to delimit part of a road joining actor Amitabh Bachchan’s Prateeksha bungalow in posh Juhu area, for broadening work focused at relieving traffic despair.
A letter was redirected by the
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in May to the Mumbai Suburban District Collector requesting them to tackle the issue and take “suitable steps on measurement and division of the Sant Dnyaneshwar Marg, on which the actor’s bungalow resides.
Tulip Miranda the Congress corporator in a statement said the BMC had given notice to Bachchan in 2017 as well as seven other property owners, including Rajkumar Hirani, about the broadening work of the Sant Dnyaneshwar Marg.During the work the wall of the plot connecting to Bachchan’s bungalow was bulldozed, leaving Bachchan’s bungalow undamaged, the corporator said, bemoaning the “VIP treatment” granted to the veteran actor.
Ironically, the letter was written by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation on May 22, 2021, to the Suburban District Collector brings that that Maharashtra Minister Aditya Thackeray, son of Shiv Sena President and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, has been asking over and over again for this road broadening work to speed up.
The letter by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation states that “if this road is widened, it will help ease the traffic congestion there and provide relief to the people”. “When the notice was given in 2017 then the land must have been taken. If he was a common man, his plot would have taken over immediately because in 299 you don’t have to wait for second notice or appeal, it is required for a project which is a public project for a road widening purpose” said Tulip Miranda the Municipal Councillor.
