Mumbai: The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) has said that the city body of Mumbai has received feedback from three potential suppliers on the global tender for 10 million Covid-19vaccines.This brings the total number of suppliers to eight. Of the eight potential suppliers in the proposal received from BMC, seven suppliers have expressed interest in supplying Sputnik V, and only one of them has expressed interest in providing Sputnik Lite (single-dose vaccine).

The rest of the suppliers have expressed interest in providing the AstraZeneca Pfizer vaccine, said MCGM. Maharashtra is keen to vaccinate all its residents expeditiously. The capital city needs 10 million shots to vaccinate 18-45-year-olds and the rest 5 million shots. To distribute the Covid vaccine to BMC, the government published a global manifesto on May 12, 2021. Subsequently, a total of five suppliers received proposals by May 18, 2021.

However, the extension of this expression of interest is intended to complement the documents of interest received. Accordingly, this period has been extended to today (May 25, 2021). Today 3 potential suppliers submitted proposals. The deadline was extended to June 1, as they also need time to complete the documentation process. Although they need time to visit, they also need time to provide documents.

MCGM added that it is important to examine the business relationship between the suppliers who are willing to distribute the vaccines and the companies that produce the vaccines, which will ensure the timely and smooth supply of vaccines. All suppliers have been instructed by the Municipal Administration to complete the paperwork immediately.
