The newly started CBSE schools under the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) have received a good response, with over 10,000 applications for 4,000 seats in these schools. Admission to the nursery for the sixth grade takes place in these schools. The Civil Body will soon announce a lottery for these schools and admit the students selected in the lottery against these seats.
“The response has been very good. Parents are happy to send their children to English medium schools at no cost. We are pleased that so many students are receiving quality education,”said Sainath Dorje, a member of BMC's Education Committee. To attract more parents to civil body schools, the education division of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has launched the CBSE Board in 10 schools from the 2021-22 academic years.
The newly started CBSE School at Poonam Nagar Municipal School run by BMC in 2020-21 had around 7 applications for each seat. The first ICSE affiliated school of the Civil Body - Woollen Mill Municipal School in Mahim received 343 applications for 320 seats. Anju Sheikh, a parent who applied to Andheri School, said, “I have heard that the school is good and free, so we registered. We hope our name comes up in the lottery.
