Mumbai: Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal has claimed that the Civil Body has received a bid to supply the Pfizer Covid vaccine in response to the Covid-19 vaccine procurement tender. It has never called for such an auction. The pharmaceutical company has stated that it has not authorized anyone to import, market, or distribute the Pfizer Bio-Ntech Covid-19 vaccine to any of its affiliates globally, including any company in India.

As mentioned earlier, Pfizer distributes its Covid-19 vaccine only to central governments and supranational organizations around the world during this epidemic phase, to be deployed in national immunization programs. Pfizer Inc. or any of its affiliates globally has authorized the import/marketing/distribution of the Pfizer-Biotech Covid 19 vaccine. A spokesman for Pfizer said it was in talks with the Indian government to make our vaccine available nationally.

BMC Commissioner Iqbal Singh had earlier said that eight bids had been received in Mumbai so far. In response to MCGM's Global Expression of Interest on the purchase of 1 crore vaccine doses, I would like to inform you that 8 bids have been received so far. One bid is for Pfizer / Astra Seneca and the remaining 7 bids are for Sputnik, Singh said. BMC Commissioner Iqbal Singh had earlier said that eight bids had been received in Mumbai so far.
