Mumbai: As the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections draw near, political strategies across the city are taking sharper shape. BJP Mumbai president Ameet Satam, during his visit to the Times of India office on Wednesday, expressed strong confidence that the Mahayuti alliance will secure over 150 seats in the upcoming polls. The alliance comprises the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

Satam emphasized that while discussions on seat-sharing among the allies are yet to begin, internal reviews and constituency-level evaluations clearly indicate that Mahayuti is strategically placed to take charge of the country’s wealthiest civic body. According to him, the BJP has conducted detailed ward-by-ward analyses, factoring in multiple aspects such as demographic trends, voter inclination, and past performances. These analyses, Satam said, gave the alliance a strong sense of optimism.

He explained that the final seat-sharing formula would only be worked out once the reservation lottery process concludes. “It would not be right to hold negotiations before the reservation system is clear. Once the lottery is declared, we will have an exact picture of which wards are open and how to plan accordingly. But based on our current evaluation, we are confident of winning more than 150 seats,” Satam stated.

Highlighting the BJP’s vision for Mumbai, Satam added that the city has been deprived of clear, decisive leadership for many years. He asserted that the Mahayuti, with its combined strength, was prepared to deliver on long-pending developmental goals. “Mumbai deserves definite direction, a leadership that can ensure growth, security, and efficiency in governance. We have a transparent roadmap to provide the city what it rightfully deserves,” he said.

Satam underscored that the party’s campaign would not only focus on development but also on issues of safety, security, and long-term urban planning. He noted that Mumbai, as the financial capital of the country, requires stronger policies to handle its growing population, infrastructure stress, and civic challenges. “Our focus is to provide a sustainable vision for the next decade. Citizens need better roads, water supply, efficient waste management, and improved health facilities. These will be our priorities in the upcoming term,” Satam reiterated.

Commenting on speculation regarding a possible alliance between Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT), Satam downplayed its significance. According to him, while both leaders may attempt to join forces, the move has not made any noticeable difference among the electorate. “The Marathi manoos is politically aware. People know which parties have genuinely delivered on their promises. Ground sentiments show that citizens trust Mahayuti for real work rather than optics,” he remarked.

Satam also pointed out that the BJP and its allies have been consistently active in civic and developmental projects across the city. He argued that the Mahayuti alliance was not merely coming together for electoral gains but was determined to bring about lasting changes in the functioning of the BMC. “Whether it is infrastructure development, better traffic management, or ensuring safety for women and children, our agenda is clear. We want to make Mumbai a model city for the entire nation,” he said.

He also acknowledged that the road ahead would involve intensive campaigning and organizational efforts, but reiterated that the BJP’s groundwork had already given them an edge. “Our workers are highly motivated, our booth-level structures are strong, and our organizational reach ensures that our message is conveyed to every voter. We are confident that this collective effort will translate into victory,” Satam added.

With the reservation lottery soon to be announced, political observers expect alliances to finalize their strategies in the coming weeks. While the opposition is attempting to regroup, the Mahayuti is presenting itself as a cohesive force with clarity of vision and confidence in numbers. If Satam’s projections hold true, the BJP-led alliance could be poised to reshape the balance of power in Mumbai’s civic administration.
