BMC has announced the opening of its two public swimming pools in the next month of January in Malad and Dahisar. Both Chacha Nehru Garden in Malad West and Gyandhara Garden in Dahisar have recently constructed swimming pools. Each pool is a typical size of 25 by 15 metres. Each pool has a yearly membership capacity of 1,632 people. The pools will open for public use as soon as member registrations are available.
Each ward will have a pool, according to the BMC's vow. However, the Mumbai municipal organisation had earlier started construction on six new swimming pools. Worli Hill Reservoir, Chacha Nehru Garden in Malad West, Indira Gandhi Entertainment Park in Andheri West, Kondivita in Andheri East, Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Kridangan, Tagore Nagar, Vikhroli East, and Gyandhara Garden in Dahisar are a few among them.
Two of the six planned swimming pools—those in Malad and Dahisar—will open to the public in the coming month, while two more—the Kondivita pool in Andheri East and Worli Hill Reservoir—will do so in the summer of 2019. Two swimming pools, one under the management of the State Government and the other of the Fire Brigade, will also be taken over by BMC. Along with the swimming pools in Worli and Andheri East, the swimming pool of the Mumbai Fire Brigade in Wadala will be open to the public during the summer.
The civic organisation already has swimming pools at Ghatkopar, Shivaji Park, Chembur, and Kandivali. After repairs, the Ghatkopar pool, which has been shuttered since 2016, will shortly reopen. The needs of the members are fully met by the other pools, nevertheless. From the previous Rs. 10100, the yearly membership rates for new pools have been reduced to Rs. 8000. However, the timeframes have been extended from 45 to 1 hour for each person. The timings are carefully watched as entry and exit at the pool are surveyed through an online logging process. If a person goes over his daily time allotment, it will be adjusted to his annual allotment.
