Mumbai: BMC Plans Pilot Parking in Three Wards
Under the newly formed Mumbai Parking Authority (MPA), Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation looks forward to execute decentralised parking plan as the number of vehicles on road is increasing which is causing the problem of parking. The plan which was led by Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal will start from August with three projects in the administrative divisions of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). In the D ward the Malabar Hills, Tardeo, and Girgaon are included.
The S Ward comprises the Bhandup, Powai, and Vikhroli and the third is the K- West Ward which has Andheri W and Vile Parle West. The new parking plan which is going to be started will have an online reservations plan for parking, systematically reserving the parking and streamlining of fee structure. The main motive of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation here is to use the space available inwards of the parking lots. The app which is going to be formed there all the agencies, housing societies, and commercial complexes will be able to add the availability of the parking slots in their respective premises.
This Plan of Development 2034 had suggested setting Mumbai Parking Authority for parking management, unclogging of streets and roads, safe, affordable, and convenient parking in public spaces only in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation area. All the work related to the management, planning, and control of all roads and roadside parking lots will be under the administration of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
All the money which is going to be generated will be used for improving the condition of the streets and parking infrastructure.
To take an opinion on this plan the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) took an online survey. The survey included questions like the charges of parking and the quality of parking in their areas.
