BMC plans mobile libraries for students, big steps before BMC elections 2022
As the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections 2022 approach the civic body gears itself by giving away vehicles to unemployed people to run as mobile libraries for students. This was led out by E-ward, comprising Byculla and Mazgaon who floated the tender to procure four vehicles under the proposed scheme that is said to be started next year.

The total cost set by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is at 2 crores with each van costing 45 lakhs, stated the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Manish Valanju. It has not also been a month since the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had stayed the scheme of distributing food trucks, and eventually the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Chief had given directives to the officials of the planning department to look into this matter and form a comprehensive policy for this scheme.

Further, he also directed the officials to shortlist 50 locations all over the city of Mumbai after it has obtained a No Objections Certificate (NOC) from the traffic department for permitting food trucks. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) corporator of the Shiv Sena from the Byculla and standing committee Yashwant Jadhav in earlier times bought 30 food trucks for a total of 5 crores for only his constituency. He had criticized the department’s October 8 circular and stated that food trucks were being distributed in his constituency since 2019 and that the stay was unfair to corporators.
