The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has ordered a new fire safety audit of all hospitals in the city following the recent fires in various parts of the city. This includes private, government, municipal hospitals in the city. According to the Maharashtra Fire Prevention & Life Safety Measure Act - 2006, audit should be a priority to ensure compliance with fire safety,” Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Chahal said in the order.
The Chief Fire Officer has been instructed to inspect all private, government and municipal hospitals for fire safety standards. If there are any shortcomings or shortcomings in the fire safety vision during such inspections, the Maharashtra Fire Prevention and Life Safety Act - 2006 will be enacted,”the order said.
