BMC News: BMC Officials Waiting for the Protestors at Breach Candy's Tata Garden to Hear their Problems Out
A group of people who approached towards the tree felling at Breach Candy’s Tata Gardens on Sunday to hold a candlelight march was astonished to notice BMC officials standing by and waiting for them at the green space. Following the order by the Bombay High Court on June 30, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation resumed the work of cutting trees in the garden and on the  footpath as the Court evacuated the interim stay restraining the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation from cutting any more trees at the garden for the coastal road project.

“We all met and were assembled to grieve for the loss of green cover, this is despite a replacement of taking the nearby site rather than the garden. Though we never expected that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation officials would come there and would wait for us and hear what our problem was” stated activist Zoru Bhathena the one who had arranged the protest on the ground and also through video conferencing when they reached Tata Garden around 9.30 pm, officials from D ward and the Coastal Road were there too said Bhathena.

“The effort is being made by us to make them understand that the replacement suggested by them is not suitable. We have come up with a decision of arranging a meeting with the technical consultant in near time” stated D ward Assistant Municipal Commissioner Prashant Gaikwad, also the BMC Chief had directed them to hear the citizens.
