Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has agreed to pay a part of the abandoned Mulund Octroi Naka land parcel to the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) for an annual rent of Rs 17 crore. MSRDC has requested 7,000 square feet of vacant land from the property for the expansion of Mulund Toll Naka. However, the amount is too high, so discussions are underway, said Chief General Manager (Toll) Kamalakar Fund. He said,
"As this land parcel will only be used for public works, BMC should not impose such high rates. We are ready to negotiate. We will find some way soon and we are confident in it."Another official, who did not want to be named under the plan, said the Mulund Octroi Naka Land parcel would be used to block the toll plaza. For example, the newly developed toll plaza at Oktroi Naka is available to travelers coming to Mumbai. Passengers traveling to Thane will be able to avail the existing Mulund Toll Naka.
This means that traffic congestion can be prevented as access and survival at this toll plaza is stagnant. According to media reports, BMC planned to develop the Octoroi land for transport and commercial purposes and to generate revenue from it. It will soon hire a consultant for the project. At the same time, MSRDC speeds up the operation of fast tag enabled lanes at all Mumbai entry points. Rajiv Gandhi Ceiling / Bandra Worli Sea Link All lanes are reported to have fast tag enabled. Except for a hybrid path on both sides for non-Fastag users. MSRDC says digital payment mode is the best response to Toll Naka congestion.
