Mumbai: Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Kishori Pednekar has called for a complete lockdown in Mumbai in view of the alarming Covid-19 behaviour of the people. Pednecker said 95 per cent of Mumbaikars adhere to the Covid-19 regulations and the remaining 5 per cent are concerned that their behaviour could cause problems for others.  Speaking to the media, she said, "95% of Mumbaikars comply with the COVID-19 regulations.

The remaining 5% do not comply with the regulations, causing problems for others. "Given the current state of COVID-19, I think a complete lockdown should be implemented,”she added. Speaking on the occasion, Pednekar said, “Those returning to their respective states from the Kumbh Mela will distribute the corona as 'Prasad'.

All these people must be quarantined in their respective states at their own expense.  We plan to keep them on board when we return to Mumbai as well. The BMC mayor's remarks come a day after a man was arrested in Mumbai for refusing to wear a mask and beating up a police officer who opposed the offense.
