Mumbai: Those over the age of 60 will get the Covid-19 vaccine on Monday through on-spot registration. Civic of first officials will go ahead with a plan to conduct a walk-in-only vaccination for 3 days from Monday. The final call of the immunization program on Monday will be taken on Sunday. The city's executive health officer said the temporary plan was to allow walk-ins for people 60 and older who want to take the dose of Covishield.

Mangala Gomer said. She added that vaccinations for health care workers can only be obtained through online registration. They can be vaccinated on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, then only get online appointments. BMC had planned a walk-in drive from May 17 to May 19 to vaccinate everyone waiting for the second dose.

However, following the Centre’s decision to extend the dosage gap for Covishield from 12 weeks to 16 weeks, BMC has been given doses that it now plans to give to those waiting for their first shots. Senior citizens who started the drive on March 1 are eligible to receive a second dose after May 23. In Mumbai, 19.96 lakh people took the first dose of Covishield and 6.56 lakh people took the second dose till Friday. There will be no immunizations on Sunday. Gomez said those who qualify for the second dose of covaxin can walk on Monday.

Even people between the ages of 45 and 59 can take a second dose of covaxin, they said. However, even those seeking a second dose may need to make appointments on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays to receive vaccinations. More than 1.24 lakh people in the city have taken covaxin, of which 64,000 have taken the second dose. At the state level, vaccination fell to a six-day low on Friday.

According to state figures, 1.50 lakh people could have been vaccinated in Maharashtra. State officials said the state was administering 2 crore immunizations in 1.97 crore doses, but the pace was very slow. An average of 2.30 lakh people was vaccinated in May. Several districts said they do not drive or trim on a weekend. The state immunization officer said it was up to the individual districts to decide whether or not to drive on the weekends. Dilip Patil said. "They decide their speed, we only care about the supply," he said.

The state received 1.15 million doses of Covaxin, and Covishield had to keep the drive for three days. District officials in Amravati said people wanted to be vaccinated but there were not enough doses. As the dosage interval increases, we plan to complete the vaccination for all health care and top care workers. "We will give the vaccine to those who want to take the first dose and those who come through online appointments," said Civil Surgeon Dr. Shyamsundar Nikam. He said the centers in Amravati also allow walk-ins and online registrations.
