Over two lakh teenagers in the 15 to 18 age range registered on the Cowin website across the country after the vaccine registration process began on Saturday. While Maharashtra and Mumbai-specific data was not available, the BMC said it had made extensive efforts to vaccinate 9.22 lakh youngsters in this age group at Mumbai's nine jumbo Covid centres. As per the BMC, because the majority of children in the eligible age range are school and college students, the corporation has delegated vaccination responsibilities to school and college administrations, who are supposed to transport the targeted beneficiaries to vaccination centres.
"Vaccination registration started on Saturday. Teenagers can register and schedule an appointment on the Cowin website. We've also made immunizations available to the public on a walk-in basis "Suresh Kakani, the Additional Municipal Commissioner agreed. "We will administer a dosage to any youngster who does not have an Aadhaar card after checking his school or college identity card. Our only wish is that no adolescent be denied vaccination" Kakani remarked.
In Mumbai, there are nine enormous Covid centres, with five booths set aside for youngsters in each hub. Around 250 people have been assigned to oversee the vaccination campaign across Mumbai. The BMC administration has also ordered that appropriate vials be kept in each delineated booth and that a separate row be set aside for youngsters. According to a Central Government circular, we can only give Covaxin to people in this age range, and we have 5 lakh doses of Covaxin and Covishield on hand. As a result, we believe we will be able to vaccinate 30,000 teenagers in a week," he stated. According to the State Public Health Department, 205,113 children enrolled at the Cowin facility on Saturday.
