The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in the announcement it had made earlier stated that it would soon be reopening schools for standard 1st to 7th which the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) took down stating the threat of a new variant, Omicron.

This was a major setback for the parents who were eagerly waiting for their children to attend physical classes, as it has been almost two years that the primary students have not attended the classes.  Replying to the concern, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated that the decision was taken to make sure that appropriate measures are taken to make a sure safe return of students on the campus as the fear of new variant prevail.

Today was the day when the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had permitted all primary schools to reopen but the introduction of the new variant has ignited fear in everyone’s mind, speculation a possible third wave. This decision by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) comes soon after the Government of Maharashtra issued a Government Resolution which clarified the standard operating procedure.

The decision received mixed reactions from the public, many stating that this step was really important as it is good that we are extra cautious before the third wave the city. “Whatever the decision has been taken by the municipal corporation, can’t say anything as most schools were not ready to reopen schools from Wednesday, as schools require time to prepare after SOPs have been released,” stated a state board school’s principal.
